Fungi are present all around us and skin is the most vulnerable part of our bodies to be infected by fungi. Our skin is warm and moisturised which makes it a favourite place of the fungi. Monsoons have already set in, and fungal infections are on the rise. So here lets have a look at some of the ways by which we can prevent skin infections caused by fungi.
1. Keep your skin clean and dry. Scrub it often.
2. Do not forget to wash your hands when you touch coins or pets or shake hands with other people.
3. Try to avoid sharing your personal things like combs, clothes, towels.
4. Wash your clothes and also towels every day. This will prevent infections from spreading.
5. Do not wear dampen sweaty clothes, wash them immediately. If you swim in public swimming pools, wash off your wet swim wear regularly.
6. Tight clothes make your skin more moisturised which makes it a better home for fungi, so avoid wearing tight outfits.
7. Foods which contains high amount of caffeine, sugar, dairy, wheat must be avoided, as these enhance fungal growth. However yogurt and fibre boost immune system, so include them in your diet.
8. The slimmer you are with lesser folds in your body, the safer you are from fungal infections.
9. If your pet is suffering from rashes, take him/her to a vet.
10. Do not walk barefoot in public places like locker rooms or public shower rooms. Trim your toe nails short and keep them clean.
