How to apply eye makeup for every eye shape

Eye makeup for every eye shape (Picture Courtesy : weheartit)
Eye makeup is a very important part of the entire face makeup. Eye makeup if done properly can make our eyes look bigger, brighter and awake. Another thing which we need to take a note of is that, we have different shapes of eyes. So in order to do our eye makeup perfect, we need to determine our eye shapes and accordingly apply eye makeup according to the eye shapes.

So, in this article, we shall give you the techniques to apply proper eye makeup based on eye shape.
Eye makeup for round eyes (Picture Courtesy : makeupgeek)

How to apply eye makeup on round eyes – If you have round eyes, you need to elongate it by lining the upper eyelids with an eyeliner starting from the inner corner till the outer corner, and forming a small cat eye or just extending it a bit outside. Then use a highlighter on the brow bones and inner corner of the eyes. Post that, apply a medium brown eye shadow on the upper lids up to crease, concentrate more on the outer corners of the eyes by packing more colors, and blend it well as you go towards the middle of the eyelids. In this way, you will get the desired doe-eye look.
Eye makeup for downturned eyes (Picture Courtesy : primped)

How to apply eye makeup on downturned eyes – Downturned eyes need a bit of lift, so the eyeliner will help you the most in this case. Just apply the eye shadow as a person with round eyes would. But the eyeliner should be thicker than the women of other eye shapes would apply it. So start from the inner corners of the eyes, up to the outer corners and at the end, flick it upwards into a smiley shape or cat eyes.
Eye makeup for deep-set eyes (Picture Courtesy : stylebistro)

How to apply makeup on deep set eyes – The only tip for makeup on this shape of eyes is that, if you apply dark eye shadows, do it very gently. Just highlight the areas of the eyes you would love to accentuate and give an illusion of round eyes. Dont let the dark eye shadows overpower the entire eye makeup.
Eye makeup for close-set eyes

How to apply makeup on close set eyes – For close-set eyes, we want to make them wider. So basically go for three eye shadows, first the highlighter which you sweep across your browbones and inner corners of the eyes. Then, a medium brown eye shadow which you apply on the eyelids from the middle part to the end, extend it a bit outwards. And while packing the color on the eyelids apply it in a round way. And finally to create more contrast, use a dark brown eye shadow on the crease. Then take the eyeliner, and start lining from the middle part of your eyelids and extend it beyond the outer part of your eyes in a straight line.
Eye makeup for protruding eyes (Picture Courtesy : popsugar)

How to apply eye makeup on protruding eyes – If you have protruding eyes, don’t use any highlighter on the inner corners of the eyes or the waterline. However, below the browbone apply some highlighter. Apply eyeliner very thickly from the inner corner to the outer corner and extend it in a straight line. The dark eyeliner on the lids will downplay the protruding shape of the eyes.
Eye makeup for hooded eyes (Picture Courtesy : stealherstyle)

How to apply eye makeup on hooded eyes – Hooded eyes have an extra layer of skin just underneath the brows, that just hides the crease areas and makes the eye lids look smaller. You don’t need much highlighter in this case, just apply a tiny bit on the inner corners. Next apply a medium colored shadow on the eyelids, and pack the dark eye shadow on the crease as well as on the outer V subtly. Apply the eyeliner on the eyelids, not in a thick way, and extend it out with a flick.
Eye makeup for monolid eyes

How to apply eye makeup on monolid eyes – A monolid eye does not have any crease. So, you need to apply makeup to this eye shape in such a way, that it makes the eyes look bigger and wider and open. Highlight the inner corners by using a white shimmery shadow and take it up to the centre of the eyes. Then take the next medium color and apply it from the crease to the outer corner of the eyes. Just create a round shape. Now define the same shape that you just created with the medium color, using a dark eye shadow. For the eyeliner, draw a very thin line which gets a bit thicker as it goes outside.
Eye makeup for almond eyes (Picture Courtesy : taaz)

How to apply eye makeup on almond eyes – Almond eye shape is the ideal eye shape. Its the most symmetrical eye shape. So half of your task is already accomplished by its own, as you don’t need to create the illusion of symmetry with makeup. So, for this type of eye shape, you can use eye shadow and eyeliner as you want. Just step back from the mirror and keep checking if things are upto your likings.

So, thats all about the eye makeup for different shape of eyes. If you follow the steps mentioned in this post, you can definitely achieve the perfect eye makeup and look gorgeous! Good luck!

Perfect Eyebrow shape for your face shape

We all know by now, the plain and simple technique to determine your brow shape. That is putting a pencil at the side of your nose and finding out the beginning, the mid-point and the end of the brow. But girls, thats not enough. The technique is over-simplified and since we have different face shapes, this over-simplified eyebrow shaping technique may not work fine for all of us. Therefore, its essential to know which eyebrow type suits your face type. Here is a post for all of you which will provide you some tips on how to shape your eyebrows depending on your face shape.

Basically, there are 6 different types of face shapes, like oval, square, long, round, heart and diamond. So whatever your face shape is, now with the help of this post, you can define your eyebrows perfectly which will suit your face shape.

Best eyebrow shape for round face
Eyebrow shape for round face – The ultimate aim is to make a round face look less round, and for that we need to make the face look a bit longer. So draw a straight line from the beginning of your brow to the mid-point, it should go upwards as the brow go towards the arch. The arches should be higher than usual and once you reach the mid-point and got a high sharp brow arch, immediately continue drawing the line downwards till you reach the end point of the brow.

Best eyebrow shape for oval face
Eyebrow shape for oval face – If you got an oval face, that is considered ideal for eyebrow shaping. You can create a soft angled eyebrow. Just start drawing the line and moving it upwards a bit and then create a gentle curve at the top and move the line downwards softly.

Best eyebrow shape for long face
Eyebrow shape for long face – If you have long face, you need to create the illusion of a shorter face. So you need not draw any arches on the brows, just start shaping the brows horizontally and after the mid-point just bend the line a bit down. You need a flat eyebrow shape to compliment your face shape.

Best eyebrow shape for square face
Eyebrow shape for square face – If you have a square face shape, you would have square jaws that are quite strong. So, balance it out with thick strong brows with arches. So start shaping or filling your brows thicker than you may usually do, and at the mid-point create a sharp arch, this will make your brows look sharper and stronger balancing your jaws.

Best eyebrow shape for heart face
Eyebrow shape for heart shaped face – You just need a soft curvy set of brows which will create a nice heart shape with your pointed chin at the end and your brows on top. So line your brows in a rounded fashion, with soft arches in the middle. The brows should be soft and feminine to match your face shape.
Best eyebrow shape for diamond face

Eyebrow shape for diamond shaped face – The ultimate goal while shaping eyebrows in this face shape is to soften up the angles on your face and making the widest part of your face look narrower. So a curvy eyebrow shape will soften the angles and make the face look narrower. So start filling the brows going a bit thinner while moving upwards to the peak of the brows, and then coming down sharply till the end of the brows.

Excessive eyebrow plucking – Often ugly eyebrows are a result of too much of brow plucking. This can happen when you are not sure about the best eyebrow shape for your face type or you are not doing the tweezing properly.

Now once you have over-plucked the eyebrows, you need to immediately stop doing it so that hair grows back on the brows. You can exfoliate the skin in that area using a soft toothbrush and also apply brow serum.

Till your eyebrows grow, use eyebrow powder or eyebrow pencils to fill in.

Wrong eyebrow powder or pencil shade – If you somehow got a wrong eyebrow shape, its natural you would want to fill in the brows with eyebrow pencil or powder. But even when filling, if the color of the brow powder or pencil is wrong, that would lead to ugly eyebrows.

If you have sparse eyebrows, fill it up with a brow powder, avoid brow pencils. Only if you are really good at drawing the brows properly, you may use an eyebrow pencil too in that case.

Bleaching eyebrows – The latest trend in the beauty industry are bleached eyebrows. Also when we color our hair light, we would obviously want lighter brows too to match everything properly.

However if you bleach the brows, results might be just the opposite as the resultant color is often not what we thought of. Therefore if you are coloring your hair blonde or anything light, leave your eyebrows as it is, do not try to change the hue of the eyebrows.

Eyebrow tattooing – Eyebrow tattoo is another grave mistake which can lead to ugly eyebrows. Instead of eyebrow tattooing, you can color your eyebrows for a change.

How to get thicker fuller natural eyebrows

Thicker fuller eyebrows are totally in vogue these days. Gone are the days when women over-plucked their eyebrows and got a thinner perfect pair of eyebrows. Bigger, fuller eyebrows are going to stay in fashion currently, as has been observed by many fashion experts. Anyone looks better with full eyebrows and it gives a youthful natural look.

Now, going with the earlier trend, it might happen you have done some damage to your brows and plucked them more than what’s required, with a tweezer. So what’s to be done next? Here we will give you some tips and tricks to get fuller eyebrows despite the damage caused to your brows.

Use eyebrow powder or pencil – Take eyebrow powder to fill up the brows, this gives a much more natural softer look. Use an angled brush to fill up the brows. Do not stray far away from the natural eyebrow line. And if you have bigger gaps on your brows to fill up, use an eyebrow pencil to do so. Use it gently and apply light strokes on the brows to the direction in which the brows grow.

Choose the right shade – You may use an eyebrow pencil or shadow but make sure you choose a shade that is closer to your natural eyebrow shade. However incase you do not find the exact match, go for a lighter shade to use on your brows.

Keep the tweezers far away from yourself – Now sometimes you want to clean up the eyebrows to look well-groomed, but end up doing a lot more than that! So if you want to obtain the fuller eyebrows look, just don’t use the tweezers for shaping up the brows at all. Eyebrow hair takes at least 6 to 8 weeks to grow back. Also refrain from using any kind of hair dye on the lashes, that can seriously damage the hair.

Oil for your brow hair – Use coconut oil on your brow hair for at least 2 to 3 days in a week. This would help the brow hair to stay protected from any further damage.

How to grow back over-plucked eyebrows

Too much of anything is bad, they say! Now, you are feeling guilty of over-tweezing your brows. So how can you grow back your eyebrows? Is there a way? Yep, there is! aEsThEtIcS brings for you a few tips which can help in growing the over-plucked eyebrows.

Before you start that tweezing business again, please remember any more pulling of the brow hair can inflame the follicles of the hair thereby causing damage which will make the eyebrow grow very short, finer than your brows actually are. Day after day, month after month, and yes year after year, if this kind of plucking goes on, the hair follicles get scarred and then growth of eyebrow hair is altogether stopped.

Keep a safe distance from tweezers, let the brows grow. Yes they will be uneven sparse for some time, but let it be. No plucking, no waxing for at least 2 months! In the meantime, the hair follicles will get healed. And when you start tweezing again, use such tweezers which wont be breaking off the hair. Tweeze extra hair below the natural shape of your brows.

If you don’t know the natural shape of your eyebrows as you have lost too much of hair there, use an eyebrow stencil. Place the stencil on your brows and follow the shape of it to draw the brows with an eyebrow pencil. Choose an eyebrow pencil which is a shade lighter than your hair, this will give your brows a soft look which is natural.

Do not get tempted by tattooed eyebrows and get it done on you! Tattoo ink fades over time and even changes color after some time, so tattooing the eyebrows is not a good idea after all!

And place it towards the end of the brow, you will get the point where your brows should end. Treat your eyebrows as if its divided into 4 parts – the first 3 parts should be upwards or ascending while the fourth part should be descending.

Threading – This is an old school methodology, however its still very popular. One needs to use a twisted string. Its moved across the brow area skin so as to pluck the hair. Remember to go to a skilled person, because a bit of mistake can change the shape and ruin your looks, giving you botched brows! This method offers precision and thus so popular.

Eyebrow Trimming – To get hot flawless looks, trim the brow hair. You will get uniform eyebrows. You need a narrow toothed comb, so that you comb it through the brows and the stray hair stick out. Also you can brush the eyebrows upwards and then use scissors. This will ensure you trim the eyebrows uniformly without getting bald patches.

Waxing for unruly brows – If you are having unruly eyebrows, then keeping those bad boys in place is not a matter of joke! In that case, you can take the help of brow wax or gels which will be setting the brows in place. In case you don’t have one, then you can use a hairspray, just spritz it on an eyebrow brush and comb it through the brows.

Use an eyebrow pencil – To get the perfect shape you want, you can use a colored eyebrow pencil to define the brows. Trace out the shape of the brow and then use tweezer to trim the extra. You can also take the help of threading.

After you have done so, you remove the colored eyebrow line. Now to fill in the gaps, you can use a pencil very close in shade to that of your eyebrow color. If you go for darker shades, that will make your brows look unnatural.
