How to apply blush according to face shape

Applying blush can be tricky if you are not sure of how to apply blush according to your face shape. We all have different kinds of face shapes, and therefore there cannot be just one right way to apply blush for everyone. So, if you girls want to look your best with the perfect rosy cheeks, this post will certainly give you a low down on the right ways to apply blush.

Blush for round face ( Picture Courtesy : nerdcoremovement )
How to apply blush on round face – If you have a round face, and you want to slim it down a bit, take a bit of blush on your blush brush and apply it on the cheeks in an angular way, starting from the apples of your cheeks and blending it all the way up to the temples. Hollywood divas like Lily Collins, Kirsten Dunst have round faces.

blush for long face ( Picture Courtesy : pinterest )
How to apply blush on long face – If you got a long face shape, apply the blush on the apples of your cheeks and gently blend it out towards the temples. Sarah Jessica Parker, Liv Tyler got long face shape.

blush for square face ( Picture Courtesy : huffingtonpost)
How to apply blush on square face – If your face is square in shape, with a well-defined strong jawline, start applying the blush a bit away from the nose, above the apples of your cheeks, in a linear motion. Hollywood celebs like Gwyneth Patrow, Olivia Wilde have square faces.

blush for oval face ( Picture Courtesy : usmagazine )
How to apply blush on oval face – If you have an oval face shape, just start putting on the blush on your apples of the cheeks and blend it away lightly. Beautiful stars like Jessica Alba, Beyonce, Eva Mendes have oval shaped faces.

blush for heart shaped face ( Picture Courtesy : gallery4share )
How to apply blush on heart shaped face – If your face is heart shaped, apply blush in a similar way just as you contour your face, that is apply the blush on the bottom of your cheekbones. This will help to keep up the balance with the sharp jaw line and your face as your cheeks will be highlighted this way. Reese Witherspoon, Kourtney Kardashian, Cara Delevingne have heart shaped faces.

blush for diamond shaped face ( Picture Courtesy : nndb )
How to apply blush on diamond shaped face – If your face is diamond shaped, you need to highlight the bottom portion of your face. So apply the blush on top of the cheekbones and blend it away towards the ears. Pretty divas like Elizabeth Hurley, Ashley Greene have diamond shaped faces.

·         If you want a natural looking rosy glow coming from the face without looking too much of made-up with makeup, apply a cream blush with a fluffy blush rush or clean fingers on your cheeks according to your face shape and then apply your normal foundation over that. After that, take a tad bit of powder blush in the same color of cream blush and put on top of these layers.
·         If you ever think, that the blush that you have applied is too over-the-top, you can also dust on some loose translucent face powder on top of that to tone everything down.
·         If you want a more dramatic makeup look, after you have applied foundation, put on a layer of powder blush and post that, take an angular blush brush and again put on some blush on your cheeks to get rosy cheeks.
·         If you have oily skin, stick to powder blush. However, if the skin is dry or you got a bit of wrinkles and fine lines, go for cream blush. Also powder blush is best to be used in hot humid weather, but if its winter then you can always use cream blush.
If you want the blush to stay on longer, like overnight, first apply a cream blush and then on top of it, apply a powder blush of similar color.

Faces Cream Blush in Peach Glow Review

RATING : 8 OUT OF 10

Winter season is the best season to try on the blushes, especially the cream based blushes. So, today I will be reviewing the Faces Cream Blush in the shade “Peach Glow”.

The Faces cream blush costs INR Rs 399. Now talking of the shade “peach glow”, it’s a peachy orangish kind of color with shimmer particles. It’s a warm toned blush. The blush is not transferrable, which is the problem with many other blushes! The shimmer particles are a bit bigger and chunkier, however its nothing overpowering.

The Faces Peach Glow Cream Blush is a pigmented blush. You can build up the color from sheer to very pigmented. This definitely makes the blush easy to work with. Its easily blendable and smooth, and gives a nice dewy cheek color.

The blush is not cakey, so even if you apply more than 1 swipes of it on the cheeks, it would not be cakey. The packaging is also quite sophisticated. The Faces Peach Glow Cream Blush adds a healthy glow to the skin. It does not melt down in the summer time and moreover you can blend this blush using your fingers also.

I have not tried out the other 3 shades of the Faces Cream Blush. The shades are – Hint of Pink, Rose Quartz, Pinked Mauve and obviously Peach Glow.

Overall, I found the Faces Peach Glow Cream Blush quite nice and is reasonably priced.

Bourjois Little Round Pot Blush REVIEW

RATING : 8.5 OUT OF 10

Bourjois Little Round Pot Blush is a timeless blusher presented by Bourjois Paris .As the company claims, the formula of the blusher has been in the market for more than one hundred and fifty years and has an amazing texture. The company claims that Bourjois Little Round Pot Blush has a baked texture that can be applied as an ultra fine pressed powder and is easy to apply and is absolutely perfect for touch ups on the go.

Price: For a 2.5 g pack of Bourjois Little Round Pot Blush, you will need to shell out Rs. 575/- that is a bit high compared to other blush products.

Packaging: The packaging is sleek and attractive .The Bourjois Little Round Pot Blush comes in a cute pink colored pot with a built in mirror and the color of the blush is same as that of the pot.

Shades of blush:  Bourjois Little Round Pot blush is available in fifteen shades to choose from. It comes with a rose fragrance that smells good.

Pros: The blush is pigmented and therefore does not leave the skin to be too dry. Also it covers up the whole skin.  Bourjois Little Round Pot Blush can be used both as a dry powder and as wet concealer and therefore saves a lot of time and money. The product stays on the skin for a very long time and does not breaks out to easily. Also the packaging is very sleek and for the product, being light weighted, it can be carried to any place and hence is very convenient.

Cons: The price is high and though the quality is good but the quantity is not. Also there is no ingredient mentioned on the case or the cover thereby making it difficult for people with skin diseases or extremely dry skin to use the Bourjois Little Round Pot Blush.

The Bourjois Little Round Pot Blush is a really good product because of its convenience. It is user friendly and can regularly be used for touch up after a very weary day at work. The verdict goes in favor of the product though the high price is a disadvantage.

NYX Mosaic Powder Blush Review

RATING – 5 OUT OF 10

NYX Mosaic Powder Blush costs INR Rs 720 to 900 in India. You can get 12 shades of the blush, however I guess in online Indian makeup stores you can find only a few of these.

What NYX says about the NYX Mosaic Powder Blush ? : Like a light switch for the face, this medley of five luminizers creates a dazzling glow for every skin tone. Our Mosaic Powder Blush can be used on cheeks, eyes and even lips. The mineral-based formula highlights, hydrates and helps protect skin. Available in 12 shades.

It comes in a round container. The top is see-through and is quite sturdy. You are gonna get 5 shades of colors in one container. I find the blush in the coral family is unfit to be used daily, however the one in Pink shades is much better. NYX Mosaic Powder Blush contains a bit of shimmer particles, but that’s very subtle.

The texture of the NYX Mosaic Powder Blush is silky and blends out quite well. The color combinations of the blushes are not so good. And if you are going to use blush brushes you will notice that its picking up the darker or brighter shade much more. The blushes are quite pigmented and quality is not bad – only if all these blushes could be separated and used, it would of much help, since this form of blush is not working fine with me at least!

Review of L’oreal Mineral Blush ( 60 – Tender Brun )

RATING – 8.5 OUT OF 10

L’oreal Mineral Blush in shade 60 – Tender Brun is a blush cum bronzer, and is a soft brown kind of color. It’s a mineralized blush which is obtained from minerals and contains no perfumes and no perservatives. So it’s a gentle blush for the skin. The l’oreal blush is available in 6 different shades –

1.     80 – Tender Sienne

2.     70 – Tender Corail

3.     60 –Tender Brun

4.     50 – Soft Rosewood

5.     40 – Soft Rose

6.     20 – Soft Mauve

L’oreal Mineral Blush is a soft powdery blush and just adds a subtle color to the cheeks. I have got the shade 60 for myself. Mineral blushes are so very popular since they are gentle on skin and is light which allows the skin to breathe freely. It comes in a transparent plastic jar and has a sifter on top which allows the product to be let out. Also a small kabuki brush is provided in the package.

L’oreal Mineral Blush in 60 Tender Brun is a soft brownish color with pink undertones in it. It gives the cheek a sunkissed look! The blush gives a very subtle and natural glow which I like. It’s a bit shimmery. You can use the kabuki brush that is provided by the company or use a contouring blush brush or a powder brush. I use a powder brush from Vega for proper application of the blush. I find the kabuki brush quite useless.

The blush blends flawlessly in the skin. L’oreal Mineral Blush does not irritate my facial skin. It took me under INR Rs 700 for a pack of 2.7 gms. The blush does not form patches , also its not heavy and can be worn all day long. One pack will last long. I heard that this blush is also suitable for dry skin.

Review : MAC Gingerly Blush

RATING – 8 OUT OF 10
Thanks to Kim Kardashian, MAC Gingerly blush which is a sheertone blush has become a quite famous MAC blush, though its not so hyped as that of MAC Peaches blush. Alright so I am going to do the review of Gingerly first, then someday will review the Peaches. Here you go!

First the price, as we know, MAC is expensive, it costs INR Rs 1100. Famous Make-up artist Mickey Contractor had once told that MAC Gingerly is one of his top 10 favourite MAC Blushes. I guess the color suits on Indian skin tone really really well. It’s a peachy brownish cheek color. Even for dark dusky beauties, the Gingerly blush will add a natural warmth to your skin.

MAC Gingerly blush gives a sun-kissed look. As mentioned before, gingerly is a sheertone blush which actually means, the color is buildable. To explain I can say it wont be like high pigmented if you just use one swipe of it, you can control the color buildability, and according to your wish and choice build the color. You can either go with a light stroke to have barely-there cheek color, or with a heavy hand to feel the warmth of the colour. You can control or regulate the intensity of the color, layering is the key.

The color lasts for more or less 6 hours. It has an orangish tinge, but believe me once you apply MAC Gingerly blush on your cheeks, it wont look artificial from any angle. You can even use this blush to contour the hollows of your cheeks or as a bronzer. Pigmentation is average, blends evenly. Its matte, but does not appear to be chalky or ashy. Though the blush is suitable for fairer skinned girls, as the color would show up really well, but as I said on the duskier skin tones it would be looking more natural. The blush is not at all heavy and is very soft to touch, almost silky.

REVIEW of Lakme Absolute Sun-kissed Bronzer

RATING – 3 OUT OF 10
Endowed with a plumpier face, I always felt the need of contouring my face well for videos. Well honestly speaking, I don’t use bronzers on a daily basis, infact I use bronzers and highlighters generally for videos and not for personal use. I got the Lakme Absolute Sun-kissed bronzer 2 months back, but I was lazy enough to write about it.

Indian cosmetic market has a dearth of branded bronzers and highlighters, though I generally get them locally from wholesale markets, though those products are generally not branded! But those are cheap and serves the purpose of video makeup, and applying on others.

So I thought of buying the NYX Bronzer at first but later on thought of splurging on a desi brand rather than a videshi brand. Patriotic feelings, you know!! But get rid of such fake feelings, cause obviously I find now that it was an idiotic act of mine which led to a total wastage of money. I am not all happy with the Lakme Absolute Sun-kissed bronzer. Don’t be fooled by the picture posted above.

What Lakme claims about the product? – Luxurious face and body bronzing duo that gives you a natural sun-kissed glow with its micro-fine velvet pearls for a luminousity that lasts all day.

The surface of the Lakme Absolute Sun-kissed bronzer looks intricate and crispy. But I could not make out the color differences as shown in the picture. I mean I am not after an orangish brown bronzer, I wanted a real bronzer, but this is very shiny and looks orangish when swatched or applied on cheeks.

The packaging looks like a compact powder case with see-through lid. Lakme does not provide any puff or blush or contour brush. Lakme Absolute Sun-kissed bronzer is highly pigmented and smooth. The bronzer also comes with a leaflet inside where the application process has been described in details.

One sweep of the Lakme Absolute Sun-kissed bronzer is sufficient. You might find the color to be copper toned, but it definitely has orange tint in it, which sucks!! Upon blending you get a nice sheen, but then that’s another disliking feature for me, since I would be topping the bronzer with a nice blush, and the sheen in bronzer makes the cheeks look BURNT from some angles. It costs INR Rs 600 for 9 gm of the product.

So my experience with Lakme Absolute Sun-kissed bronzer turned out to be miserable! I don’t wanna look cheek-burnt. And I don’t think I will be using it to bronze my body. So what else, its lying on a dark corner of my vanity storage, I dint give it a second try.

I really don’t know how come other beauty bloggers raved about this bronzer, while my personal experience says a whole different story! Is the “patriotic feeling” or “free goodies”?

REVIEW : ELF Essential Natural Radiance Blusher Bronzed

RATING – 7.5 OUT OF 10

I bought the ELF Essential Natural Radiance Blusher Bronzed last week. It costs only INR Rs 300. I could find only one shade (Bronzed) of ELF blushes in India. The entire series by Elf which is named as Essential Natural Radiance Blusher has 6 shades which are – Flushed, Shy, Glow, Coy, Innocence and Bronzed (which I purchased).
The weight of the blush is .07 oz that is 2gms. It’s a cheap deal since some of the Indian websites sell it under Rs 250. A little bit of the product is enough! But the lid of ELF Essential Natural Radiance Blusher Bronzed is annoying, first I could not understand how to open the product but with trials and errors finally I figured it out! You just need to slide the lid up and you are done!
ELF Essential Natural Radiance Blusher Bronzed can be used on a regular basis. You can use this as a highlighter if your complexion is darker. If you are tanned skinned you can use this as a blush. The blush gives a sun-kissed glow to the face. But ladies please use a bit, and with a light hand, otherwise your face might look all messed up!
Swatch
What e.l.f says about the ELF Essential Natural Radiance Blusher Bronzed? ---- Exquisite, delicate, pigment that makes cheeks radiant combined with a healthy-looking glow. Infused with texturizing agents, skin feels smooth and pores are minimised.
ELF Essential Natural Radiance Blusher Bronzed is pretty pigmented. But at the same time its chaky, and can get messy if not used carefully! Its also powdery. The blush is usable and also travel-friendly since its small in size.

REVIEW : NARS Deep Throat blush

NARS Deep Throat blush
RATING : 9 OUT OF 10

The name of the blush is enough to grab many eye-balls, and many readers might have accidentally landed up on my blog, wishing to find something (more intersting?) ,with the same name than make-up! Well ,the name is just an eye-catcher, I agree. And so is the blush. By the way, we are discussing about the non-p**** version of Deep Throat, it’s a blush by NARS cosmetics. If blushes interest you, read on!
Clear view of Nars deep throat
NARS blush in Deep Throat is described by NARS as “flirty, sheer peach color”. The color is warm, a pink blush with peachy sheer in it. If you have used the NARS Orgasm blush, then you will find the NARS Deep Throat blush to be much lighter but somewhat similar otherwise.
NARS Deep Throat blush is shimmery, contains gold glitter flecks in it, which gives a radiant glow to face. It does not clog out the pores (I do have open pores). Generally shimmery products accentuates all the flaws, but this blush does not!
Swatch
NARS Deep Throat blush comes in a sleek matte black rubberised plastic case. One thing I like about the packaging is that, the blush comes with a mirror inside the case. But I really dislike the plastic case since it catches all the dirt and fingerprints quickly, and the box looks messy.
NARS Deep Throat blush is highly pigmented, so just one swipe of the brush loaded with blush is enough. You can build up color on your cheeks by re-applying. It practically lasts all day long! Saying all that, I would just add one more point that the blush is not matte, so if you want a matte blush, this is wont be able to satisfy you!

** This is the 100th post of this blog. I never thought I would be continuing and would be able to reach 100 given to my infrequent postings. But finally, its done! I am happy. I am more serious from now on towards this blog. Lets see, in how many ways can we enrich our beautilicious journey!! **

REVIEW : Lakme Absolute Cheek Chromatic Baked blush

RATING – 9 OUT OF 10

Today I am going to review Lakme Absolute Cheek Chromatic Baked blush. It comes in four shades, 2 for daytime looks and other 2 for night looks. Its shades are – Day Blushes, Day Sheer, Night Sheen, Night Sparkle. All are powder blushes and is baked on terra cotta tiles from Italy. The blushes are enriched with Vitamin E and Jojoba oil. Its free from any fragrance. The blushes can be applied in both ways, either dry for a natural look or wet for long lasting wear.

I got Lakme Absolute Cheek Chromatic Baked blush in Day Sheer. Lakme Absolute Cheek Chromatic Baked blush’s price is INR Rs 550 and is 4g in weight. The pack is circular in shape with a flip lid at top which is transparent. It does not have any mirror or brush in it and is dome shaped. Not fit to take while travelling since the plastic top might crack.

Lakme Absolute Cheek Chromatic Baked blush is soft and not at all creamy. I simply hate creamy blushes, since I have oily skin, I cant stand any creaminess on cheeks. Also the shimmers present in the blush is quite small and is not chunky. Pigmentation of the blush is high, only one swipe is enough for one cheek.

Lakme Absolute Cheek Chromatic Baked blush stays almost for 4 to 5 hours, and the shimmers also last for some hours. I have used the blush dry, with a large blush brush. I particularly avoid applying the blush on the apples of my cheeks, since it would be accentuating my cheeks more instead of contouring. The blush is ideal for a subtle soft look.

Lakme Absolute Cheek Chromatic Baked blush is an absolute wonderful blush! But it’s a hell expensive and might not be travel-friendly.

It can flatter both the warm complexioned and the cool ones. You can use it as a pinky rosy highlighter if you are on the darker side. Its priced at approximately US $19.50, and can be shopped online from the MAC website.
