Lakme Nine to Five Defining Eyeliner REVIEW (04 Sapphire)

RATING :- 6 OUT OF 10

For the last 1 month, i have been using the Lakme Nine to Five Defining Eyeliner like crazy. This one is in shade 04 Sapphire. The color is a gorgeous dark navy blue, a matte one. It comes in an outer cover which is golden in color, made up of cardboard, and the product is basically a retractable pencil eyeliner. Colored eyeliner is not a favourite of all, but this particular shade is quite close to black, yet its not black but blue, so very wearable be it at your office or college and nothing overboard. It costs INR Rs 299.

What Lakme claims about the Lakme Nine to Five Defining Eyeliner ? : A color intense formula that glides on evenly for a dramatic look that lasts all day.

How to use : Pull cap to open. Twist to reveal tip of pencil and use to define eyes.

To get the required opacity and pigmentation, you need to go through at least twice with the lakme eyeliner pencil. The color payoff is okayish, wont say its really eye-catching. The color is matte as have been mentioned already. The pencil is also that superbly smooth which glides on easily. So you know, you have to apply and reapply the eyeliner with a bit of concentration and time. Lakme Nine to Five Defining Eyeliner is otherwise an okayish eyeliner pencil but these days there are many alternatives at the same price, so definitely the brand needs to work harder on all the points which they are lagging.
Swatch of  Lakme Nine to Five Defining Eyeliner Shade 04 Sapphire

Another nice thing about the Lakme Nine to Five Defining Eyeliner  which i would like to put here is that its kind of smudge-proof so you can worry less if you apply this. Staying power of the eye pencil is quite good, it stays for almost 6-9 hours but starts fading after 6 hours or so. The condition can worsen if your eyelids are oily. Last but not the least, the eyeliner is waterproof. Thats all i think i can write about this particular product right now. I would not repurchase this Lakme eye pencil for sure in future.

Lakme Black Impact Eye Liner REVIEW

RATING :- 8 OUT OF 10

The Lakme Black Impact Eye Liner has been with me for more than 1 year and recently i started using it, and i know its going to expire soon so i thought of reviewing it. So this costs INR Rs 225 and comes in a pack of 3.5 ml. This Lakme eyeliner is in the market for a long time and is never going to go out of fashion it seems.

What Lakme claims about the Lakme Black Impact Eye Liner ? : Lakme 9 to 5 Impact Black Eye liner is there to stay! This rich, intense black liner, makes your look last longer with its silky, water resistant & fast drying formula. Give your eye makeup a bold and lasting impression with its rich and defined hues. The liner is easy and smooth to apply and the brush handle offers a comfortable grip so you can create the looks you want, without uneven lines! The Lakme 9 to 5 Black Impact Liner is a glam staple you should have!
  • Rich intense color in a silk forumla.
  • Water resistant - fast drying.
  • Long handle for easy grip.

Ingredients : Aqua, lpm, Disodium Edta

So this eye liner is one of the most affordable liquid eye liners right now in the market, with a good quality, because the brand Lakme is something which is trustworthy and reliable since its in the market for a long time. Lakme Black Impact Eye Liner comes in a brown bottle plastic made with a golden cap. It got a long handle as has been mentioned, but the tip is not thick and sturdy, and therefore bends away very quickly. Very difficult for someone with shaky hands to apply this liner. I usually draw the line first with an eye pencil and then go over the same line with this liner. That makes the application easy, or else the applicator is good for nothing. You would need a proper felt tip eyeliner applicator to make the application smoother.

Usually one stroke is not sufficient, so i reapply. So the pigmentation is not superb, but what more can you expect for eye makeup under 500 these days? The liner stays on for 4-5 hours easily, and might get faded away with time. Its water resistant as has been mentioned, but not totally water proof. Lakme Black Impact Eye Liner is travel-friendly, you can carry it in your purse, nothing to worry about spillage.

Overall, Lakme Black Impact Eye Liner is a good eye liner, considering its price. It is definitely not the best eyeliner in India, but then the price and availability makes it really likable.

Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation Review

RATING :- 8 OUT OF 10

This Lakme foundation has been lying in the drawer for years. Its all exhausted now and i just kept it thinking i would review it someday. And that someday is today. 4-5 years back this was my holy grail. Be it for college or just shopping, i would just apply the Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation all over my face and neck, and that was all about my foundation routine. With passage of time, i got many acne scars, so this foundation is no longer reliable for me. But yes i repurchased this foundation like crazy back on those days.

What Lakme claims about Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation? : This oil-free water resistant foundation with Vitamin E and Silicones, soothes and moisturizes with superior coverage. Easy to blend and feather like finish pampers the skin non-stop.

Ingredients : Aqua, Cetearyl Octanoate and approved colors.

A very much budget friendly foundation, Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation costs INR 125 for a tiny bottle of 27 ml. The packaging is basic but neat, just a glass bottle with brown lid. It glides on smoothly on the skin, super easy to blend, however gives a dewy look. Oily skinned girls like me are not a fan of dewy looks. What i used to do is to use a loose powder all over the foundation in order to get a matte look. The foundation is not waterproof hence you should not wear it if you sweat a lot or if its monsoon.

Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation smells good. Its available in 4 shades, Coral for dusky complexion, Shell for medium to dark skin, Marble for medium complexion and Pearl for fair complexion. I always used Marble and that suited me. The foundation is lightweight, and offers upto medium coverage if you build it up. Wont be able to hide any spots or blemishes though. And it gets messy while trying to take out the foundation from the bottle, either you have to dip your fingers in the bottle thats really not recommended! Or you have to put some foundation onto your palm, and i always ended up getting more than i required while trying to pour the liquidy foundation out of the bottle.

As i have mentioned in the very first para, i really like this Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation and this is one of the best Lakme foundation after the Lakme Face Magic Souffle (read review here). I think the expensive range of foundations from Lakme brand are not of equal quality as this cheaper range is.

Lakme Perfect Radiance Skin Lightening Foundation Review

RATING : 6 OUT OF 10

Today I am going to review the Lakme Perfect Radiance Skin Lightening Foundation. This costs INR Rs 450 and is available in 6 shades. It comes in a pump-out plastic bottle of white color, and weighs 25 ml. The consistency of the foundation is medium, it is neither too heavy nor is too runny. One needs to take the right amount of product to make blending easy, or else it will take a big amount of to get it all blended properly.

What Lakme claims about Lakme Perfect Radiance Skin Lightening Foundation? : Presenting a foundation for visibly fairer skin. Flawless radiance with great coverage and a soft pearly glow. 95% Indian women agreed that it makes them fairer and 96% agreed that it makes their skin glow.

Now you too can discover fairness you absolutely love.

Suitable for all skin types.

The Lakme Perfect Radiance Skin Lightening Foundation contains brightening pearls, which gives a radiant pearl like glow on the face. Vitamin B3 in it lightens the skin tone and also reduces the dark spots and blemishes. The foundation also has SPF 11.

I am not at all a fan of Lakme foundations. This foundation has nothing much to make me fall in love with Lakme foundations. I would rather spend 600 bucks more and try on a good foundation from other brands. Talking about the brightening of complexion, any foundation would be doing that, the effect is always temporary. Lakme Perfect Radiance Skin Lightening Foundation provides only a medium coverage and if applied in layers, it becomes patchy and flaky and cant be blended. But then if you apply this foundation lightly, its alright then!

If you have blemishes and dark spots, this foundation wont be covering them up! You need to use concealer for that. Also if you dry skinned, don’t forget to use a moisturizer beforehand and then only apply Lakme Perfect Radiance Skin Lightening Foundation as it might be a bit drying for dry skinned girls. Also, as the company claims to lighten the complexion, that’s a false claim according to me. Nothing of that kind happens. The foundation gives a dewy look to the face.

REVIEW : LAKME EYECONIC MASCARA

RATING – 5 OUT OF 10

This review is pending for a long time. Of course, today the Lakme Eyeconic Mascara is no longer a new thingy in the market. I got to use it long back, however, lazy me, could not review the mascara before!

Lakme Eyeconic mascara is priced at INR Rs 250 and the quantity that one gets is 9 ml. The Lakme mascara promises all to give the perfect curled out lashes. It comes in a sleek black tube which is slightly curved.

READ LAKME EYECONIC KAJAL REVIEW

The mascara wand is irritatingly long ( at least for me). It does not provide any kind of volume, I mean if you want a decent volumnizing effect you need to work real hard! It does lift the lashes, and curls a bit, but nothing good or superb in that! There is a possibility of getting the eye makeup messed up, as the Lakme Eyeconic Mascara does not dry fast.

The Lakme Eyeconic Mascara provides a tad bit of definition to the lashes, no doubt! When I used this mascara, I did not find any clumps in the lashes. Also the mascara is waterproof. So incase if you are interested in getting a mascara for everyday use at office, then this can fairly help you. But I found nothing exceptional or too good about the mascara (honestly!).

Lakme Eyeconic Kajal Review

RATING – 8 OUT OF 10

As you all know Lakme already launched the Eyeconic range of eye makeup products! I am a regular user of Maybelline Colossal Kajal and now Lakme too offers Eyeconic range which is very much similar to the Colossal range of Maybelline. However I am not going to compare the Maybelline Colossal Kajal to that of Lakme Eyeconic Kajal. This is going to be a review on the eyeconic kajal.

What Lakme claims about Lakme Eyeconic Kajal :

10 Hr

No Smudge

Waterproof

Dermatologically Tested

How to use the Lakme Eyeconic Kajal? : On the upper lid, draw a neat stroke, starting from the inner corner of the eye and extending outwards. Repeat on lower lid.

READ LAKME EYECONIC MASCARA REVIEW

It comes in a nice packaging. It’s a retractable twist up pencil. The pencil is having a turqoise and black color combination. The Lakme Eyeconic Kajal is a black pencil, but its not jet black like the Maybelline Colossal Kajal. The pigmentation is just okay, nothing superb! Its smudge-proof, and soft but its not so creamy.

The Lakme Eyeconic kajal stays on whole day, however at the end of the day you might see the line fading away a bit. When I apply the kajal on the lower lashline, it budges after a few hours. Cant say about the waterline. So the claim of its 10 hour staying power is only partly true!
READ REVIEW OF MAYBELLINE COLOSSAL KAJAL - CLICK HERE

The Lakme Eyeconic kajal is waterproof and even if you splash some water, it will stay intact. Its difficult to remove with soaps and facial foams, comes out only with a good makeup remover. It did not sting the eyes, also the price is INR Rs 199 so its very affordable.

I could create a smokey eye look with this pencil, so you need to have another kajal to do that. Though it is soft and smooth to apply, you wont get a super dark line with this Lakme eyeconic kajal.

Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover SPF 25 Review

Rating – Negative Rating

I got this foundation months back, and this was lying at a dark corner in my wardrobe, until day before yesterday, when I decided to go for this foundation once more, as I went for shopping. And what I met with was disspointment. I am really aghast and have promised myself not to buy any other Lakme foundations going by the other beauty bloggers’ recommendation. The product is Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover SPF 25. And I really cannot understand why is the product so overrated by the Indian makeup and beauty bloggers?

What Lakme claims about the Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover SPF 25 : This ultra light, oil-free, water based formula delivers naturally fair, breathable skin. Its weightless formulation hides pores, fine lines and uneven skin tone to leave skin peachy soft all through the day. It lasts up to 16 hours without fading and has Vitamin B3 and sun protection of SPF 25.

Lets face it, this foundation is a big time sucker! The foundation is supposed to be matte, but obviously if one is oily skinned like me, it turns into greasy and patchy within 10 minutes of application. You can get only 3 shades of the foundation – 01 Ivory Fair, 03 Golden Medium and 05 Beige Honey. The Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover SPF 25 is priced at INR Rs 595, a big price tag for such a poor product! For me, the Lakme Perfecting Foundation which is priced at INR Rs 99 is superior to this bottle of misery!
After Blending ( picture taken without flash )

After Blending ( picture taken with flash )

Lakme foundations are never really good, while other brands’ foundation are better in quality at the same price. However, this particular foundation Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover SPF 25 casts a whitish cast on the face, which is very much prominent in flash lights, even in a well-lit place or room. Whenever I tried to blend it, it forms white patches, my complexion looks clearly discolored. The foundation kind of settles down in the lines and wrinkles, making the imperfections more prominent. However, if you are going to a dark place which has dim lights or almost no lights, then the foundation will be okay for you.

Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover SPF 25 has a nice fragrance - citrusy. I picked up the 03 shade. But it delivers a low coverage, instead of covering up the bit of zit zats on the skin, it accentuates those areas, I feel. This time it was my fourth trial with the Lakme foundation, I make sure that I have used at least 3 to 4 times any product before reviewing it. Well, if you are going to buy this particular foundation from Lakme, I would suggest turn on your left or right or back, and go to someother counter, but Holy Mary, NO not this!

REVIEW of Lakme Absolute Sun-kissed Bronzer

RATING – 3 OUT OF 10
Endowed with a plumpier face, I always felt the need of contouring my face well for videos. Well honestly speaking, I don’t use bronzers on a daily basis, infact I use bronzers and highlighters generally for videos and not for personal use. I got the Lakme Absolute Sun-kissed bronzer 2 months back, but I was lazy enough to write about it.

Indian cosmetic market has a dearth of branded bronzers and highlighters, though I generally get them locally from wholesale markets, though those products are generally not branded! But those are cheap and serves the purpose of video makeup, and applying on others.

So I thought of buying the NYX Bronzer at first but later on thought of splurging on a desi brand rather than a videshi brand. Patriotic feelings, you know!! But get rid of such fake feelings, cause obviously I find now that it was an idiotic act of mine which led to a total wastage of money. I am not all happy with the Lakme Absolute Sun-kissed bronzer. Don’t be fooled by the picture posted above.

What Lakme claims about the product? – Luxurious face and body bronzing duo that gives you a natural sun-kissed glow with its micro-fine velvet pearls for a luminousity that lasts all day.

The surface of the Lakme Absolute Sun-kissed bronzer looks intricate and crispy. But I could not make out the color differences as shown in the picture. I mean I am not after an orangish brown bronzer, I wanted a real bronzer, but this is very shiny and looks orangish when swatched or applied on cheeks.

The packaging looks like a compact powder case with see-through lid. Lakme does not provide any puff or blush or contour brush. Lakme Absolute Sun-kissed bronzer is highly pigmented and smooth. The bronzer also comes with a leaflet inside where the application process has been described in details.

One sweep of the Lakme Absolute Sun-kissed bronzer is sufficient. You might find the color to be copper toned, but it definitely has orange tint in it, which sucks!! Upon blending you get a nice sheen, but then that’s another disliking feature for me, since I would be topping the bronzer with a nice blush, and the sheen in bronzer makes the cheeks look BURNT from some angles. It costs INR Rs 600 for 9 gm of the product.

So my experience with Lakme Absolute Sun-kissed bronzer turned out to be miserable! I don’t wanna look cheek-burnt. And I don’t think I will be using it to bronze my body. So what else, its lying on a dark corner of my vanity storage, I dint give it a second try.

I really don’t know how come other beauty bloggers raved about this bronzer, while my personal experience says a whole different story! Is the “patriotic feeling” or “free goodies”?
