Radhe Maa’s Makeup Breakdown

Radhe Maa is most probably the first God woman (self-proclaimed) to be so stylish and fashionable that as soon as she got on the headlines, she became a fashion icon immediately! Her red bejewelled attire floods our computer screens if we go for an image search of this Indian God-woman who is in the news for all wrong reasons, be it for dowry, harassment of bride by her in-laws alongwith our Radhe Maa. Even few celebs accused this holy diva of running a prostitution ring in India or forcing the female disciples to sleep with the male disciples. Well, what Radhe Maa did or did not as a God woman, am no one to judge. I got fascinated by her dancing videos, and Radhe Maa flaunting her long fair legs in short dresses as well as her general look for the masses in red designer salwar kameez or lehenga cholis.

Radhe Maa is/was (as she is out of radar for now, after all the accusations) generally seen with pretty much the same face makeup. She is very fair going by the pictures we can see on google. So now if you want to emulate Radhe Maa’s looks, lets get straight to the makeup breakdown thingy. Please continue reading.

Make your face very fair or pale with the lightest shade of foundation you have. If you are already very fair, similar to her skintone, then use your normal foundation. After that, don’t forget to put on concealer to hide any flaws, as Radhe Maa got absolutely flawless milky white complexion. Coming to the eyebrows, her brows are brownish and soft with almost no arch. So just take a medium brown eyebrow pencil or eyebrow powder and fill up your brows. Dont create any arches on the brows. Give your brows a soft look.

Now on the eyelids, pack on a bit of light pink eye shadow or even orangish eye shadow. Monochromatic eye shadow look would be perfect. Since Radhe Maa got very less makeup on her eyes. After that, take a black eyeliner and line your upper eye lid as close to the eyelashes as possible. Dont wing out on the outer corners of the eyes. You can take the same eye shadow which you applied on the upper eye lids, and put a bit of it on your lower eye lids. Or a flesh colored eyeliner pencil can be used on the waterline to give you the Radhe Maa special wide-awake youthful eyes. Final step for the eye makeup is to curl your lashes and put on a coat of mascara. Dont overdo anything!

For the blush, just smile and put on pink blush on the apples of your cheeks. You don’t need to blend in the blush much. Radhe Maa got rosy cheeks as you can see. So you blend in properly or not, does not matter for this Radhe Maa inspired makeup look! Skip the bronzer totally.

For the lips, take a bright matte red lipstick and fill in your lips. You need not overdraw the pout, just follow the shape of your lips and apply lipstick. For convenience, you may use a red lipliner first to outline the lips. Once done, just take a tissue, put it in between your lips, and press your lips on the tissue. The excess will get stuck on the tissue, and you will get a matte lip where the red color wont bleed.

Highlighting the face is not necessary, but yes if you want to get some glow (divine-like) go ahead and lightly dust a highlighter below the eye contour, near your cheeks and also on the bridge of your nose.

Finally, don’t forget the red tika. You can use liquid sindoor to draw the tika on your forehead or even a red lipstick will do. Accessories! Yes very important, you take out all chunky neck-pieces and earrings and bangles and deck yourself up with those jewellery. And Radhe Maa is generally seen in red, i guess its her lucky color or her favourite color, so go ahead and wear something traditional or ethnic outfit in red. All set!

The Clumpy Eyelash Trend

As the title of the post suggest, clumpy eyelashes are currently IN. Fashion trends change with time. So lets erase from our minds all those mascara rules we learnt in the past. Its time to embrace the clumpy a bit spidery looking eyelashes smartly. Hey, this aint a joke. Clean, clumpless lashes are a thing of the past. The spidery clumpy lashes were flaunted by models on the runway for brands like Prada, Gucci.

A reputed makeup artist from L’oreal Paris Sir John states clumpy lashes bring a haphazard bohemian look which is youthful and light-hearted. Also this definitely increases the rockstar quotient. In the Ginger and Smart Show in Australia we could see the clumpy lashes go very well with the no makeup look.

In the Nanette’s Fall 2015 Fashion show, this particular clumpy eyelash look showed that this trend can make eyes open up more if the mascara is applied in such a fashion with clumps on both lower and upper lashes. Another celebrity makeup artist Wendy Williams says mascara can change the shape of eyes. If applied thicker on the centre of upper and lower lashes, the eyes will widen giving one a doll eyed look. And if one wants to get a sultry sexy look, she just needs to layer the mascara again and again on the outer corners.

Clumpy lashes work well with classic soft baby pink lips or red pout. That creates a nice balance. Williams gives a good tip for the clumpy lashes which is to make use of tweezers and pinch the top of eye lashes with that, which will give a spiky look. She also says the clumpy eyelashes technique will work well allongwith light eyeliners only, like white or pink. Dark eyeliners will not help the lashes to stand out! However, if you want a sexy grunge look, put some black liner, smudge it out and then put on mascara.

White sneakers – A summer must have

Summer is the best time to embrace all the flats that you have and wear them without a second thought. Be it sandals, sneakers anything flat, is apt for the season. Take a break from the high heels, let your feet relax. This summer clean white sneakers are very much trendy. So if you are thinking of trying this summer white sneaker trend, this article might help you choose the perfect pair for yourself.

We all must have worn sneakers in our childhood. Its not only very comfortable to wear but can be fashionable! However when we think of wearing a nice flirty little dress which is very pretty and feminine, we would never pair it up with sneakers. However what you thought to be a probable fashion disaster, can help you earn brownie points for being so trendy and thinking out of the box, also with 0 blisters on your feet.

A flowy medium dress in soft color with a bit of accessories and a white sneaker in no way would be a look to hate.

If you are heading to your office and need to be in formal wear or semi-formal, you can opt for pencil skirts too. Teaming that up with sneakers is perfectly fine, but make sure you got a monochromatic look.

If you are a fan of flared skirts which are upto your knees, make sure you tuck in the shirt or tee in the skirt. A white pair of sneakers will make the look cool!

And if you are into leather, you may wear a mini leather skirt or a midi one, with cropped top or tucked in top, sneakers alongwith it would look fab.

If the hemline is longer, go for sneakers which are higher than the normal flat ones. If you can play with the proportions right, it will definitely make you stand out.

Slip on sneakers are also a great option if you wanna wear something a bit long and feminine like a chiffon dress in light color.

So next time when you go to buy all white kicks, do not forget sneakers can be extremely fashionable if worn in the right way. Its not just meant to be sport shoes or gym shoes but can be worn on regular basis.

Bang Bang Bangles are back with a BANG!

Yes girls, this season take out all those funky chunky pieces of bangles that you ever had, u might borrow from your momma too, and flaunt yourselves in a new style. Bracelets may not be an IN thing in the fashion scenario these days, however sporting a bauble is very chic and cool.

Accessorizing the right way always make a girl look uber cool drawing all the attention on her! Bangles are often treated as a part of the Indian ethnic look. Especially some of the mod girls would just avoid wearing bubles with the excuse that they don’t wear a saree or salwar kameez or kurti churidaar to match up with the ethnic feminine look. But girl, now you can accessorize your hands with bangles even if you dress up in western casual wear. Many celebs, fashionistas totally do it, and look really good.

So, in case you would love to wear some bangles and flaunt the new YOU, continue reading on :D

The most casual dress up would be you in blue denim jeans with some loose t-shirt. Sounds very familiar, right? Why don’t you spice up everything from just being plain Jane. Add some bangles on your hands. Simple.

If the tee is off shoulder it would be more fun then. Just to end all that boring color continuation, you may wear broad bangles with designs and patterns on it.

Next up, if you are wearing prints dresswise, go for bangles which are in solid colors. Avoid too much of print or designs on the bangles. However if you are into mix and match of accessories and don’t mind wearing more than a pair of bangles, you may include beaded bangles too with this particular look.

An easy peasy way to select the bangles would be to match the outerwear you are wearing with the bangles. You can select same colored bangles.

If you are into sequinned and embellished dresses, you can pair it up with gold bangles. Make sure your bag is embellished too, to match up. And just to make everything funny and stylish in a different way, you may wear sneakers.

If you don’t find a chance to wear your favourite bangles, then don’t worry, just wear them on both the wrists. It does not need to compliment each other or be in pairs. Be casual with this. And you can try this with a really summertime halter-neck flowy medium dress or a backless dress.

If you are not into bangles, or you think bangles may not go well with your looks, you may test the water with a wooden bangle instead of the plastic or the metal ones.

Paris Fashion Week Inspired Trend : Sizzle with Pink Lips

Yes you have heard it right, pink is the new red. In the recent past at the Paris International Fashion Week, makeup artist Linda Cantello who works with the brand Giorgio Armani made the models try something other than red, and it totally drove all girls crazy. It was PINK on the lips everywhere on the ramp. Be it any season, fuschia lips brightens the complexion instantly.

Pink lips trend wont stop anyone from using red lipsticks, but obviously at times a little switching of colors is good. I love red lips, but even i wanna wear more pink. So girls if you wanna try this pink pout trend straight off the runway, here are a few quick tips on how to do so.

Exfoliate the lips – Before applying any dark or bold color on your lips, do not forget to exfoliate your lips. This will ensure that all the dead skin cells have been removed and there are no flakes visible on the lips. Apply any good lip scrub or exfoliator all over the lips and rub it in circular motion, this will remove all dead skin cells.

Lip primer – Just to moisturize your lips post scrubbing, put on lip primer, it will also act as a protective shield for your lips. The primer will smoothen the lips and act as a base on the lips, so that the lipstick can glide over the lips smoothly. Its very important to have smooth lips in order to apply lip colors properly and evenly.

Choose a good pink lipstick and lip liner – Before applying lipstick, for a better guidance you may outline the lips with a lip liner pencil of a similar pink color. This will give a perfect shape to your pout. And after that, go ahead and apply that favourite pink lipstick generously.

How to hide your cankles or heavy legs

If you are absolutely disgusted about your cankles that is your heavy calves and ankles, which makes your legs appear heavy and you think its impossible to hide these nasty cankles, fret not, we have some solutions to help you overcome this situation!

Now cankles may appear due to body weight gain or fluid retention in the legs. Permanent solutions to get rid of these cankles would be obviously weight loss, workouts and plastic surgery. But during the process of doing all these to get rid of cankles, in order to hide that flaw temporarily i shall jot down some steps that would help.

How to dress for heavy legs or cankles : Yes its all about the dressing unless you have got rid of cankles permanently. Below are few points which must be taken care of.

Always opt for pants – Whenever you get an opportunity, wear pants safely. Wear pants that does not taper. Skinny jeans or leggings are no good! The pants should be not too wide or too fitted. It should be kind of straight. Bootcut jeans is the best choice, it will balance out everything.

Say NO to cropped pants – Any cropped pants that end at the ankles must be avoided always. We do not want to highlight the problematic areas and thats what a Capri will do. But if the pants end just below the ankles or at the ankles, you may try those. The hem of the pants or shorts should be ending at the thinnest part of the legs.

Find the slimmest part of your legs – Generally knee is the area which is the slimmest part of one’s legs and that is where the dress or skirt or pants hemline should be. Never go for ruffled or embellished hemlines which would draw the attention downwards. A fitted pencil skirt will accentuate your curves and draw attention upwards and not downwards. But make sure the hemline ends at the slimmest part of your legs.

Tall boots – If you wanna look tall and slim, go for tall boots. Team it up with tunics and leggings or slim jeans tucked in the boots. Pick booties made for cankles and wide ankles and not the regular conventional ones.

Monochromatic – It looks the sleekest when the entire bottom is of one color. Like the skirt or dress, hose or tights and shoes all three are monochromatic. Thats why many women follow the trick of all black. It definitely makes the woman look taller and slimmer.

No ankle straps, please – Avoid any shoes that got straps or laces around the ankle. There should be no emphasis given on the ankle part at all.

Choose high heels as footwear always – Always opt for footwear that elongates your feet, so nothing better than wedge or heels in this case. However don’t choose spiky heels or stilettos.

Pay attention to the top – Most popular fashion tricks of all women is Distraction! Put on good eye makeup, wear something nice and heavy as neck piece. Also do your hair right. This kind of impeccable makeup and hairstyle wont let the onlookers notice any minute flaws in the lower part.

Chunky footwear – Chunky footwear are extremely helpful if you are worried of cankles. It will balance out those heavy legs.

Decorate your ankles – There goes a famous fashion quote that if you cannot hide it, just decorate it! Follow the same trick here. Wear a bracelet on your ankles or you can get inked there. And just keep flaunting it!

How to wear skinny jeans and leggings in your 40s

Many of the pretty ladies out there are too uncomfortable to try on skinny jeans or leggings thinking they are too old to wear one. With age we women stop experimenting, and when it comes to wear something skin tight like jeans, leggings or jeggings, most of the women who are in their 40s or above think its unwearable.

The 80s saw the leggings trend a lot, and after that the trend vanished and only of late for a few years now this trend has resurfaced in the fashion scenario. Today’s leggings are more sophisticated, fashionable. You get leggings made from spanx these days, then there are leggings which look like jeans that we call jeggings, and of course there are designer leggings too available.

Its okay to try cheaper leggings at first, but make sure the elastic band waist is not very low. Ponte knit leggings are great option for matured women as its not that transparent. And the fabric is also not that light.

Definitely leggings look chic, and if you pair it with tunic and vest which will cover up the tush, you can never look bad! Black leggings are a must have in a woman’s closet! And you always wear leggings with any kind of footwear be it high heels or just flats. But then ladies, you need to maintain a safe distance from ripped-up leggings, lacey leggings. That aint suitable for a matured woman.

Now talking about skinny jeans, it really does not to be that goddamn skin tight so that you cant even walk or sit properly. Bootcut jeans are anyday better for women in their 40s but then if you are too fond of skinny jeans, u may pair it with boots. You can tuck in the jeans inside the boots. The junkiness of the boots will balance the skinniness of the jeans. And always opt for dark colored skinny jeans.

Now skinny jeans and leggings are favourites of plus sized women too. If one goes slimmer on the bottom, its essential to choose outfits that is suitable for her body type. A monochromatic look is best if you are opting for skinny jeans or leggings. Go all black, like black tunic with black jeans and black boots. You can go for charcoal color top too, if you are not into black. But always try to wear same color of jeans or leggings and footwear which will give your entire legs same color.

If your legs are a bit heavy, you can team up skinny jeans with high heels. That will make the legs appear more long and slim. But if you are already blessed with slim legs, you can wear ballerina flats too with jeans. Also if you wanna experiment more, you can go for ankle length jeans along with boots. That gives a cool chic look!

Track pants are absolutely a very comfortable wear, be it in the gym or at home. But have you ever thought of wearing one while stepping out of the house may be for shopping or a fun-day at college or work? Fashionistas might rebuke me for writing this nonsense, as track pants are way too casual and we better not bring such casual work-out outfits in our daily lives outside the gym. But then a few of the Hollywood divas were seen sporting this trend of wearing track pants outside gym and still looking fantabulous!

Well, if you are a bold gutsy woman and love trying various things which are a bit unconventional, u may read on.

Dakota Fanning’s damn cool look is really fab. She is wearing track pant with a sleeveless cropped tight top, and of course completed the look with sneakers as footwear. This style is really easy to adapt in your daily life, and you can totally wear this if you are going for shopping or movie.

The last we see Alexander Spencer flaunting on a similar look. She teamed up the track pant with a regular white vest or strapped top tucked in, and a jacket on top, gives her a very refined and edgy look. A sling bag and pumps complete the look. This style can be emulated whether you are going to office or any event and want to look very polished casual but different!

How to look Taller ( for Petites )

Are you a short woman, and have always wished God would fulfill your wish and make you taller? Fact remains that, we the petite or short women, wont get taller, no matter what happens! But then there are some ways which can make us look taller. So practise the six tips given below and look taller!

1.     Stand straight. Postures do matter when it comes to your appearance and height. Also do sit straight always. In this way, you would be looking taller.

2.     Make high heels your best friend. Choose a high heel in which you are comfortable to walk. However do not wear too high heels, that will make things awkward! If you are not comfortable to wear heels, give platform heels a try, those with medium heels. If nothing suits you, go for a low heel.

3.     Style the mane in such a way that the hair has more height and fullness in the crown portion. Totally avoid any kind of flat, smooth styling of hair.
Picture Courtesy : Anne Klein / Giftag

4.     Avoid horizontal lines, and go for vertical stripes when it comes to dresses and accessories. Verical stripes will make a petite look thinner and taller.

5.     To create the illusion of light, take the help of colors. Wear monochromatic dresses. If you dress in one color, it creates a vertical line. Try wearing dark colors like black, navy etc.

If you don’t want to be draped in a single color from head-to-toe, then wearing a matching colored legwear with your footwear’s color, will help in making your legs appear taller. Works well, if you have worn neutral colored shoes.

6.     Opt for outfits which have V necklines. It creates a vertical line and draws most of the attention to your face, thus creating the illusion of a taller figure.

Sarees for Durga Puja & Salwar Kameez for Diwali

The month of October and November are festive months, celebrating festivals like Durga Puja and Diwali. So girls its time for shopping. I know many of you have already completed shopping, however the other half of you girls are still trying to decide what to buy for the festivals and look stunning! Here’s a short guide of dresses for you all.

Sorry men, i don’t have sufficient knowledge to write about your outfits for the festivals. However, aEsThEtIcS is hiring more and more able writers who can help you men in near future J

Sarees for Durga Puja

Lets start with saree style. Sarees are the best for any women or girls of any age. Its the traditional attire of all Indians. Well, there is no need to introduce sarees to you all. You must have had tried wearing sarees at least once till date, and even if you have not then this year you should try it, what say?

For all the regular saree wearers, you too can look unique and amazing in your own saree style. Choose the colors of the sarees wisely, also pay some attention to the fabric, you are done!

Fabric of the saree : Right now, the embroidered net sarees are very IN. If you are hunting down the best sarees for yourself, and are visiting saree shops and boutiques, you must have noticed the trends. They are not so high in price, having a moderate price tag.
Faux Georgette Saree (Image Courtesy :designersareez)

Net Saree ( Image Courtesy : Bharat Plaza )

Have you tried out the faux georgette sarees? If not, this season is the best to do so. You can look simply seductive and sexy in this type of sarees. The body shape does not matter so much, you will look more toned up in this type of sarees.

Anybody would be insisting you to buy silk sarees or jamdanis or kanchipuram sarees. But don’t you think these type of sarees are too common, even your best friend would be wearing a south silk. So its better to look different from the crowd.

Colors of the sarees : Choose the color wisely. Needless to say, you must choose light colors for the daytime look and bright or dark colored sarees for the evening and night. Purple or mauve or dark pink colored sarees would be fantastic this time. However, the color is more of a personal choice so its better for you to determine it for yourself.

Salwar Kameez for Diwali

As because i am writing about salwars for diwali ,it does not mean you cant wear a saree for Diwali and vice versa. Of course you can!

Fabrics of Salwar Kameez : Net embroidered salwars are IN, just as net sarees are.

Also crepe and jacquard salwars are hot favourites amongst younger ladies and girls these days.

Embellished salwar kameez can never go out of fashion. So if you are a lover of georgette fabrics then obviously you can choose to buy such stuffs too.

If simple is what you prefer, feel comfortable to wear printed salwar kameez, its not (un)fashionable!

Colors of Salwar Kameez : A lot of violet and dark blue colored salwars are overflooding the market. However you may choose a beige colored salwar or something in black and red combination and stand out of the crowd.

Types of Salwar Kameez : A huge percentage of Indian women are still in awe of Anarkali salwars. However, short heighted beauties stay away from the anarkalis. You need not follow a trend always. You can go your way and look beautiful, just have enough of knowledge to create a statement of your own!

Give your anarkali salwar suits a little break, and shop some Patiala salwars in the meantime. Churi pajamas are also okay for this season, keep the length of the kameez / kurti upto the knees then.

In case you are very attached to anarkali or frock style salwar kameez, switch over to lawn salwar kameez style. Its long, and almost floor-kissing! However, its not so loose and having a straighter cut. However, sorry to disappoint the not-so-tall ladies out there, but please leave the lawn salwar kameez  for the taller girls.
