Makeup Revloution London Dazzle Amazing Lipstick REVIEW

This lipstick has been lying inside one of my drawers for almost a year now, it is the Makeup Revloution London Amazing Lipstick in Dazzle. I bought this online quite sometime back and have used this a number of times. It costs INR Rs 450. It got a bit of weird smell. Anyways moving on to the review.

What Makeup Revloution claims about the Makeup Revolution London lipstick ? :

• Non-sticky
• Long lasting
• High Color Payoff

How to use : Choose a lip liner that is the same shade as the lipstick. Outliner the upper and the lower lip in a perfect one stroke application that lines and defines the natural shape of your lips.

Makeup Revloution London Dazzle Amazing Lipstick is basically a hot pink shade. It comes in a plastic black case with transparent top where you can see the color. So basically this system is good for people who keep lipsticks in lipstick organizers where only the head is visible, and this way you get to pick the color of your choice instantly. Back to the shade, its not just a hot pink shade but got a subtle golden sheen in it. Thats what i love about this color. It is perfect for people who want bold bright lips. It is of creamy and heavy consistency and is sticky so the claim of non-sticky is untrue. However, its very long lasting lipstick indeed and easily lasts upto 6 hours. It is water-resistant so even if you drink water it wont really take off the lipstick, but then this is transferrable so thats one thing. After a full meal, you will just find a nice soft pink tint on the lips, and thereafter you can just retouch the lipstick.

Makeup Revloution London Dazzle Amazing Lipstick is highly pigmented, one coat is enough to cover even pigmented lips, however two coats would bring more vividness. On the other side, i must say during humid days, this lipstick bleeds terribly on the lips, and also if we keep it in drawer it tends to melt, as you can see from the picture, the lipstick's shape is kind of deformed. Also mine broke off from the base suddenly, so the quality and packaging is not that great. However if you want good color payoff and a long lasting lipstick under 500 bucks, you might like to try this. For me, as this is kind of sticky, and got the bleeding issue, i wont be trying anything from the similar Amazing range of Makeup Revolution, but might try other lipsticks from this company.

Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick REVIEW (Shade 9 Fabulous Fig)

Today i will be reviewing the Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick Fabulous Fig 9. I got this awhile back and had been using this quite often. I must say i love the shade, its kind of reddish brown with a tint of orange which is visible when you apply on the lips. The texture is very creamy and is semi-matte and you can see a bit of sheen. This comes in a pack of 4.2g and costs INR Rs 599.

What Revlon claims about the Revlon Matte Lipstick ? : Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick 82 shades in 4 fabulous finishes. Infused with mega-moisturizers to seal in color and softness. Find your lip color amongst a dazzling array of 82 shade in 4 fabulous finishes of Matte, Pearl, Creme, and Shine. Exclusive liquisilk formula with mega-moisturizers seals in color and softness. Silky-smooth, creamy texture. Stay true color wears evenly.

How to use ? : Apply directly to lips for a high-shine look. Add Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss for even more shine.

Ingredients : Isononyl Isononanoate, Ozokerite, Trioctyldodecyl Citrate and Iron Oxides.

Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick comes in the classic Revlon lipstick packaging which is a black tube with silver case inside. However to mark that the lipstick is brand new and different from others, the word 'NEW' has been inscribed inside a heart on the top of the lipstick cover. I have not tried out any other shades in this range apart from the shade 9 Fabulous Fig. So far i am loving it. May not be the best i have tried out, however according to the price tag, the product is nice. Does not have any scent. The lip color glides on smoothly and is nicely pigmented. The lipstick is water-resistant so you can drink water and still the lipstick would be intact, however it is not water proof.

Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick stays as long as 6 hours, and may be more but starts fading off gradually. If you are taking a meal, then after that you find a nice tint of it, so does not disappear if you take meal, however would definitely need proper touch-up. Talking about the shade, it may not be a very work place friendly color, as depending on skin tone it might look a bit orangish at times. However, for a casual day out, this is perfect. Also it has a tendency to transfer to any other stuffs, so you need to be a bit cautious about it. However, i just love the fact that it keeps the lips nicely moist and hydrated. And even if the texture is creamy, it is light-weight. It does not bleed too. The packaging is travel-friendly too.

Lotus Ecostay Long Lasting Lip Color SPF 20 REVIEW (Shade Fuschia Smile 421)

I have used the Lotus Ecostay Long Lasting Lip Color SPF 20 for 4-5 times now. Its in shade Fuschia Smile 421. Its basically a pink fuschia color. It comes in a cardboard outer packaging light shimmery pink in color with a sleek metallic case which is again of pinkish color. The packaging is extremely travel-friendly. The cost is INR Rs 545 for a pack of 4.2 g.

What Lotus claims about the Lotus Ecostay Long Lasting Lip Color SPF 20 ? : Ecostay lip color is a preservative free, natural, long lasting, hydrating lip color. One swipe and your lips are ready for healthier shine all day long without any loss of moisture, ensuring flawless finish. SPF 20 gives UV protection. Give your lips this healthy nutrition.
Feel the PURITY all day long.

To start this, i must say Lotus Ecostay Long Lasting Lip Color SPF 20 is not a proper long stay lipstick, i have used better long stay makeup products, and this one does not live upto the expectation or claims. The lipstick will stay intact as long as you dont take a sip of water or a bite, post that it will start fading. Yes the pinkish tint stays on the lips for almost 12 hours, but if you are talking about long staying power, then this does not work! This Lotus lipstick is not waterproof or smudge-proof.

The finish that you get is semi-matte and you need to put at least 2-3 swipes on your lips to get full coverage, so the process is kind of cumbersome, and it would be better to say Lotus Ecostay Long Lasting Lip Color does not give enough color payoff. It has a weird fruity smell, something which i am not a fan of but can live with it. I have also heard the lighter lipcolors of this range, dries up the lips faster and gets patchy, though i have not noticed something like that with this particular shade of Fuschia Smile.

However, that the Lotus lipstick contains SPF 20 is an added advantage. Also the company claims that the lipsticks are paraben and preservative free and totally natural. Finally i would like to write here i did not like the Lotus Ecostay Long Lasting Lip Color SPF 20 because the price is quite high and the pigmentation is not that great. Also the particular shade of pink makes my face look darker, so probably i wont be trying out anymore shades from this range in future.

Avon Glazewear Dimensions lipstick Review

So i had been using the Avon Glazewear Dimensions lipstick for about a year now. I got the shades G208 Amethyst Shine and G102 Lustrous Berry and also G207 Razzle Dazzle. I got these quite sometime back so cant remember the price exactly, but i think it was priced around INR Rs 300 each. As the name suggests, the lipsticks got nice shine and kind of glossy when applied on the lips. So you get very glossy lips. Also these lipsticks provide a good amount of moisturization too, and can be used as lip balms.

The lipstick comes in a silver metallic case with black inside. It got a faint smell, which is not very pleasant. The Avon Glazewear Dimensions lipstick is very sticky so be sure your hair is tightly tied up or clipped otherwise it keeps on sticking with the lipstick and creating a mess all over the face. The color payoff is not that great, you need to put on at least 2-3 swipes to get the color visible. As it is very creamy and glossy, dont expect any matte look with this.

Now talking about the 3 shades that i got from the Avon Glazewear Dimensions lipstick, the amethyst shine is kind of mauvish purple lip color with lots of shine. And the lustrous berry is a medium pink color with lot of sparkly shine. And then the Razzle Dazzle is a purple shade with shine/shimmer in it. I am putting up the swatches of the Avon lipsticks so that you can get an idea of how the shades are.

One thing i must mention before i end up this write-up is that Avon Glazewear Dimensions lipstick melt very fast if you keep in drawers. I am in India, Kolkata and humidity is quite high here. So the lipsticks keep on melting and then it breaks. So due to this, the lustrous berry shade has got spoilt already. More than 60% of the lipstick fell off after breaking. The other one is still intact somehow. And razzle dazzle got all bubbles built in it up automatically, no idea how. These lipsticks should be refrigerated however no notice was given by Avon when i bought these.

Revlon Plumpsexxxy Lipcolor Review (Shade 52 Muzzle Duzzle)

While going through one of my drawers, i found this Revlon Plumpsexxxy Lipcolor SPF 15 in the shade 52 Muzzle Duzzle. The packaging is quite dirty as it has been lying in the desk for a longggggggggg time now, i think i have hardly used this shade two times. Not at all a favourite of mine, anyways. It contains 4 g of the product and costs INR Rs 630.

The packaging of Revlon Plumpsexxxy Lipcolor is quite neat, the body is platinum gold in color with the middle part fully golden in color. The cap is see-through so that you can check out the shade without having to open the lipstick. It has got a faint vanilla odor. I am not again a fan of this kind of smell. It is very moisturising and shiny. The consistency is kind of creamy. When you apply on the lips, you can feel a mild cold kind of sensation, almost mint like feeling, wont say it is a tingling sensation as generally lip plumpers do have that.

When it comes to plumping the lips, this lipstick from Revlon is a big fail at that. It provides no plumpiness as the name would suggest. So if you want your lips to be plumpy, dont try this lipstick, its just a waste of money. Revlon Plumpsexxxy Lipcolor is not that superbly pigmented too, you need to go through the lines again and again to see the color, at least with this particular lip shade, so is the case. Since it is creamy, it can settle between the lip lines if not applied heavily.

Two good points that i can think of about this lipstick are that is very moisturising, so if you want some hydration on your lips go ahead with this. Also it contains some SPF, so you need not apply any more sunblock on the lips. Revlon Plumpsexxxy Lipcolor got a good staying power and stays on properly at least for 4 hours, without any munching. Now about the shade 52 Muzzle Duzzle, it is a medium brown shade, perfect for everyday wear. This shade is again not liked by me, dont know why. It simply looks too unflattering on me. Anyways, i am putting a swatch of this Revlon lipstick for you all here. And if you are into matte then this would be again a disappointment for you!

So overall, if you are just looking for hydration with some color on the lips, also some sun protection, this Revlon Plumpsexxxy Lipcolor will serve the purpose. However, if you want something to plump up your pucker, and you are expecting that to happen with this lip color then this will disappoint you totally!

How to make matte lipstick at home

Homemade natural cosmetics are always preferable rather than going for all chemicals. Therefore, if we can make lipsticks at home by ourselves with the help of homemade items, that would be fun to try out and also safe for your skin.

Matte lipsticks or lip colors never go out of fashion. If you make homemade matte lipsticks, the best thing about it is that, you can make lip colors of your choice instead of buying a color which you don’t like after coming back home and regret the entire week after purchasing it. Homemade matte lipsticks will be definitely cheaper and safer for anyone. So in this article we shall be telling you how to make a matte lipstick naturally at home.

Ingredients required to make matte lipsticks at home :

·         1 teaspoonful of Vaseline or petroleum jelly. Beeswax is also okay.

·         1 teaspoonful of oil. (You can use coconut oil or olive oil or vegetable oil. Baby oil will also work.)

·         1 teaspoonful of shea or cocoa butter.

·         1/4^th teaspoonful of Bentonite Clay. (This will add the matte texture.)

·         A tiny round container.

·         For coloring you can use eyeshadow. If you want 100% natural cosmetics then go for natural coloring ingredients. Like for red color, you can use beetroot powder or just  a drop of red food color. For brown color, you can use a bit of cinnamon powder or one fourth teaspoonful of natural cocoa powder.

How to make :

·         If you are using Vaseline or petroleum jelly as the base, just put it in the container and mix it with shea or cocoa butter and oil.

·         If you are using beeswax as the base, make sure to melt it first and then mix it with oil and shea or cocoa butter.

·         To add color to your homemade matte lipsticks, if you are using eye shadows, then get loose eye shadows for that, of a color of your choice. If you have pressed eye shadows, crush it first so that no lumps are present. After that, mix the eye shadow dust with the above mentioned mixture.

·         If you want entirely natural beauty product, go for natural products then for coloring. Experiment by adding different sorts of ingredients and in different amounts to get different shades of natural lip colors.

·         Now add the bentonite clay to the mixture and mix everything well.

·         Now just transfer the mixture to the tiny round container, if you have used Vaseline or petroleum jelly. Its ready for use. If you have used beeswax, the mixture will be still in liquid form. So just pour it carefully in the container, don’t fill up the container entirely because the lipstick will start expanding as it starts cooling down.

Remember to store the homemade matte lipstick in a cool dark place, so that it does not get soft.

How to choose the right lip color for your complexion

When we apply makeup, we always keep in mind to highlight our best facial feature. Some might have beautiful eyes and thus focus on that, while others might have a full luscious pout and hence they would love to emphasize that. Therefore, choosing the right lip color for yourself and applying them properly can bring out the best facial feature and make you look even more attractive!

Choosing the lip color – To coordinate the lip color, one needs to narrow down the color range. First you need to determine which color would suit your skin tone and then you have to narrow down the colors which will match with your outfits and makeup.  By matching colors i mean to say that you need to find harmonious colors which will work together.

Lipstick colors for cool skin tones – Firstly, you need to make sure you are cool skin toned. To understand that, check the following points.

You are cool skin toned if :
 White, black and blue colored dresses go well with your complexion.
 Silver jewellery makes your skin look brighter.
 You get tanned in the sun rays quickly.

So for cool skin tones, peach, pink, purple pinks, pinkish red colors would go well.

Lipstick colors for warm skin tones – You need to make sure that you are warm skin tone. So to understand, check with the following points.

You are warm skin toned if :
 Dresses in brown, yellow, beige or cream colors look good on you.
 Silver jewellery goes well with you.
 You get a nice tan if you spend a long time in the sun.

So for warm skin tones, any lip color in reds would generally go well, like any deep red lip color, orangish red and even reddish pink hues.

Few other tips to get the lip color right - Basically, if you have a lighter soft complexion, go for softer dainty lip colors. However, if you have richer color of your complexion, then go for rich deeper lip colors.

Whenever you are choosing the perfect lip color for yourself, if you want to add some drama, go for contrast colors. If you want a nice subtle glow, go for colors which complement your skin tone well.
Now, if you have already few lip colors in your makeup collection which does not complement your complexion, then mix it with some other color until you get a hue which will go well with your skin tone.

Also its not just about choosing the right lip color for yourself, but also what kind of effect you want on your lips after applying the lip products. If you want bigger looking pout, go for a light version of the colors which go well with your complexion. And if you want your already big full lips to look a bit toned down and thinner, go for darker lip colors.

Last but not the least, while choosing the right lip color for your complexion, keep in mind the color of the outfit that you are wearing as well as the other makeup colors present on your face. If you have applied eye shadow, you should go for colors which complement the eye makeup look well. Once you are done with your entire face makeup, just step back and look at yourself in the mirror, am sure, you would find your lips complementing your entire look and you will be looking super gorgeous!

How to choose the right lip gloss

Personally i am not a lip gloss girl, but i must admit that at times the matte lip look is too dull and bland. So to spice things up, a lip gloss is necessary! Lip  gloss gives a youthful look and is easier to remove than a matte lipstick.

Generally lip glosses are cheaper than lipsticks and hence affordable for college students’ makeup. And in order to get a radiant complexion and bring out your eye color, its important that you choose your lip gloss correctly. For example, if you are going out in the morning, avoid wearing a bright lip gloss, as that would be too bright and loud for day time makeup. For daytime makeup neutral or nude color lip glosses work the best!

Lip gloss should match complexion – Whatever lip gloss color you purchase, make sure it matches your skin complexion. This will help you look good.

Cracked lips – If your lips are chapped and cracked, before applying lip gloss, make sure to moisturize the lips with lip balm or chapstick. If your lips are too cracked, you can avoid lip gloss temporarily until the lips get okay!

Keep in mind the occasion – Always keep in mind the occasion and time of the day when you apply overall makeup including lip gloss. As i mentioned previously in the post, if its a morning time and you are going out to college or work, opt for a nude or neutral lip gloss shade. In the evening, if you are going out for shopping or partying, stick to bright vibrant shades of lip glosses.

Brand matters – Always go for a lip gloss of a good reputed cosmetic brand. I know, there are many makeup brands today in the Indian beauty market which manufactures lip glosses of various textures and also qualities. You need a real good lip gloss for yourself so go for lip glosses from reputed brands. Good branded lip glosses generally have a better color pay off and also lasts longer.

Just like me, you must be wondering why the color ‘Marsala’ is tagged as the number one color of 2015?! Marsala is basically a jewel tone, and Pantone describes it to be ‘a naturally robust and earthy wine red’! So if you have thought of introducing this favourite color of 2015 in your makeup regime, lets have a look at the ways through which the jewel tone can be used.

Marsala is often called as the oxblood red color too. Divas like Deepika Padukone, Sonam Kapoor have already worn this color many times on the red carpet. Now, its time that you try this color on yourself too.
