Sunsilk Perfect Straight Shampoo and Conditioner Review

Who does not love straight hair? Straight hair is always the IN-thing in fashion. And just like any other babes with curly mane in the world, me too never leaves a chance to try a thing or two which claims to give straighter tresses. So, when I got the Sunsilk Perfect Straight Shampoo and Conditioner to be reviewed as a contest entry for the collab contest conducted by Indiblogger and Sunsilk, I gave a smile! ;) But then I always have an inner conflict in mind while testing out any hair products which claim to give straight mane, whether it will work or not, as till date whatever I have used could not give the desired ‘straight hair’ look!

 Sunsilk Perfect Straight Shampoo costs INR Rs 56 for 80 ml and the Sunsilk Perfect Straight Conditioner is priced at INR Rs 56 for 90 ml. The products have been created with the ‘breakthrough straight-lock technology’ with the help of Yuko Yamashita.

Both the shampoo and conditioner come in violet containers. That’s super cool! One thing which I like about Sunsilk hair thingy is that those come in different fascinating colored containers which look so amazing! Sunsilk Perfect Straight Shampoo comes in a flip open capped container and the shampoo is pinkish in color, and the consistency is quite runny. It has got a fruit fragrance. Sunsilk Perfect Straight Conditioner is white in color and is also runny. The shampoo lathers up well.

After blow drying the hair I got frizz free hair, but that is not what one calls “Straight”! Well my hair is chemically untreated and I have never gone for permanent straightening till date. So if you have straightened hair already this duo might be of good help to you, though am not sure about it! But for people who have real curly hair or frizzy hair, the Sunsilk Perfect Straight Shampoo and Conditioner wont do any miracle after all! In fact after blow-drying the hair, I straightened my hair with hot iron too. The results were nothing exceptional as the humid weather never allows these irons to work properly I guess.

Overall, the Sunsilk Perfect Straight Shampoo and Conditioner are okayish products. Yes helps in reducing the frizziness in hair. Do not expect anything more! One thing more, it is pocket friendly, so definitely worth a try, as if it did not work on  me does not mean it wont work on you J I am not impressed with the stuffs honestly. However, the shampoo does its work well, that is it cleans well. And no dryness in the hair!

So, if you are looking for smoother frizz free hair, the Sunsilk Perfect Straight Shampoo and Conditioner is a good option for you. But if you are looking for perfectly straight hair, only a chemical rebonding can gift it to you, not these stuffs!

Straighten your hair at home without chemicals

From childhood onwards, I have been crazy about straight hair. Straight hair is always in fashion, and the combination of a little black dress with poker straight silky hair is surreal! Hair straightening irons are an easy way to achieve straight hair, but that is not a permanent solution. But then, straightening iron and blow dryer together can give you the perfectly straight hair, as you have always wished for.

We often think of getting permanently straight hair, though “permanently straight” is just a hoax. This kind of treatments stays only for a year at the most. Also this kind of straightening process needs to use various chemicals, which in many cases can have adverse effects on the hair and scalp.

So here I am going to discuss the steps which can give you straightened hair without using chemicals.

a.      To get straight silky hair quickly and easily, before shampooing the hair, wash the hair with 1/3^rd of a cup of milk

b.     Then shampoo the hair as normally you do, and then air dry the hair partially.

c.      You can also use a towel to dry the hair and keep it a bit damp. Remember your hair should be a bit damp and not totally dry.

d.     Partition your hair into 3 segments – with one segment on one side of your head, one segment in the middle, and the last segment of hair in the bottom.

e.      Take an electric dryer on one hand and a hair brush on the other hand. Blow dry one section of the hair in an even motion and then brush it. Repeat the same process for the different sections of the hair.

f.      After all sections of your hair have been dried and straightened, next take a hair straightener.

g.     Again divide your hair in sections and run the flat iron thoroughly but smoothly through all the sections of the hair.

h.     If you want the ends of the hair to be curly and polished, brush the ends of the hair of a comb and pull it outwards or inwards taut.

i.       Apply an anti-frizz serum or leave in conditioner on the hair.

j.       To finish off the hair styling, blow cool air onto the hair so that your hair styling remains intact for quite sometime.

The Lakme Diva Blogger Contest - How Would You Live It Up This Summer!

I met Kyra on facebook, on the official page of Lakme www.facebook.com/ilovelakme. It was a virtual meeting held online. Just like me, Kyra is a makeup maven, she is doing Diploma in Esthetics from Lakme Training Academy in Mumbai. After exchanging a lot of pictures of different makeup looks done, we shared phone number. And via phone calls, my friendship with Kyra got stronger. She is from Mumbai, while me from Kolkata, but that never posed a hurdle for us in our friendship.

We decided to go on a trip to Goa. You can guess for yourself how much we would be having fun while vacationing! After all, its going to be a total girly trip for 3 days. I took my pet cat Rinks with me, and started towards Goa. At the airport, Kyra was standing for me. That was the first time, I saw her in real. She is a pretty woman indeed! With a tall svelte figure, and golden locks she looked very beautiful in a teal t-shirt teamed up with a pair of shorts and a flip-flop.

Since Elena lives in Mumbai, she took the responsibility of booking a hotel room for both of us. Also as I am a student,Kyra was the one contributing 70% of the total expenditure for the trip. We checked in a simple yet cosy hotel, and I was once again very impressed with Kyra’s choice of hotel. It was quite chic yet within budget. After getting fresh we changed to casual attires, Kyra wore a mauve ruffle dress, while I put on a flouncy dress in pink color. We hired a cab, and went out for shopping. Rinks was on my lap, trying to smell the lemony odour of the sunscreen which I had applied on my face. Kyra took me to super market, and we had a fantastic time. I bought masala cashews, few silver accessories, and a silk carpet. As the sun retreated, we too began moving towards our hotel room. Kyra told me to take evening bath as it was so hot even after sunset. We had Goanese food for our dinner. It was delicious! I cant forget the taste of ‘bebinca’, a sweet dish. Also I am very fond of the Goanese seafood ‘Racheiado’. In this dish, a whole pomfret fish is slitted in the centre, and red spicy sauce is stuffed inside it. While Kyra enjoyed the drink – cashew feni the most.

On the next day, we got busy with sight seeing. First we went to see Fort Aguada, and then spent time on the Candolim Beach. There were lot of foreigneers, enjoying the rays of the sun on their body. After taking meal at a nearby eatery, Kyra joined a group of young girls who were playing something similar to volley ball at the beach. I am not into sports, so I preferred to sit back and enjoy the game, while Kyra hopped and jiggled with the girls.

Only one more day was left of the Goa trip, and I began feeling a bit gloomy about it. This fun trip with Kyra , reminded me of my school days, and my class mates. Life moves on, and friends too. Some go away, while others make an entry in your heart. Certainly I would make an effort to help our friendship last forever, may be I and Kyra are destined to be best friends forever.

On the last day of the vacation, we decided to spend the day in our hotel room. Kyra shared a lot of things about her life, and I shared mine. I told Kyra ,” Tomorrow onwards we would be back to normal life. Try to keep in touch. I know a different world awaits you in Mumbai. But I really enjoyed a bit of freedom from studies and work, and from the hustle bustle of the city life. Thanks for taking all initiative.” I wished her all luck to be a famous aesthetician of India, and may her salon business run really well.

Next morning, Kyra helped me to hire a cab, as I with Rinks would be starting off for Kolkata. I was on my way to the airport. The good bye bidding moment was a bit emotional for both the girls, but I have strong conviction that I will meet Kyra soon.

As my cab started speedily, the tall coconut trees moved far away. Some Goanese children who were playing at the roadside, waved at me smilingly, I waved back. Before leaving, Kyra gave me a pendant of Jesus Christ as a gift, I opened the bag, and took it out, and held it tightly in my palm. When I looked at it, it seemed Christ was looking at me with a half hearted smile, the silver pendant was shining brightly in the sunrays. My eyes got moistened. We people work a lot everyday, keeping in mind, the holidays which awaits after hectic days full of running, shouting, unfulfilled desires and long-lost connections and relationships, which comes as a fresh breeze refreshing and brigtening our life with renewed vigour. Each holiday is special, it gives a man, enthusiasm to work hard during his work days. I promised myself to work and study hard after going back to home, so that I could have such a beautiful holiday!

I will be looking forward to Lakme to bestow such wonderful oppurtunities of writing about holidays. Though I don’t have a friend like Kyra yet. But the day is not far behind when I will be on a trip to Goa with a dear friend, and the friend can be anyone who is reading my post. Would you like to be the one?

Trying to perceive beauty a bit closer...

Beauty is a dream-like term. I try to feel it, see it, smell it, hear it, most times i fail, while only a few times i am successful in doing so. It's indefinite, shadowy, and i wont make futile attempts of describing beauty with tough beautiful words. I wont be putting up beautiful pictures in this post, since the most beautiful pictures one perceives is in his/her dreams or imaginations.

Let me start writing brief incidents from my life to get more closer to the unfathomable-perceivable "BEAUTY".

I have seen people associating beauty with women. But from a woman's heart, i have seen many men's face to be illumined with the glow of beauty. Well, the glow cant be seen visibly, but i felt it. Whenever i see the tall lean dusky skinned labourer working day and night to dress up the ugly wounds of the apartment next to mine, i feel it's beauty. His muddy skin full of mud, cement, sweat makes him look very real. After day's toil when his maalik gives him his money for the day, and he smiles widely, that's beautiful, i tell you.

My aunty had a traumatic marriage and now she is battling against it. Attending hearing sessions is tough. Requires a lot of mental patience and strength. She is a middle aged woman of 40, little fat, petite, with a blunt nose and some marks of acne on her not so young skin. She comes to me often to share what happened in court, what lawyer said. After circling the court numerous times, it took 2 years to finally get rid of that relation. She came to me that very day, with a packet of rasgullas. She wore a pink colored tant sari with some works on it in white. She smiled like an innocent small kid, and stated everything. Breeze blew drowsily. refreshing her. She smiled with all her heart and talked a lot. She seemed to me to be the most beautiful woman i have ever met.

I had a pet cat,a long time back. I had spent many beautiful days with it. It looked the most beautiful creature to me. It caressed me, spent time with me, shared some happy and saddy moments with me silently. I used to gaze at it for hours and even now i spend sometime by seeing it's picture or by feeling it near me. Those moments were beauty itself.

I had a teacher when i was in school. He was a nice charming young man full of enthusiasm. He was dark complexioned with sharp features and deep set eyes. Eyes which could see beyond the Ganges or the Himalayas perhaps. Malignant neoplasm was detected soon after in him. I visited his house once or twice after that. He was once handsome, but after getting frequent chemo, his figure got shadowy, he stopped and walked slowly at his own pace. But when i sat facing him in his balcony, the day-light was still kissing the sky, and it was not yet dark. I noticed in him a strange mystical glow. He looked paler but his eyes were warm, full of pride. Death was not far behind. But why did his eyes speak of warmth and had pride in them? Does Death make a man feel proud? I know not. But yes, it was beauty for me. I could see both the heaven and earth in his eyes.

I see a prostitute every evening standing beside the huge tree. She must be of my age, in her early 20s. I cant see her real face, since it's covered with tons of notably mismatched foundation and powder, making her look almost washed out and white. But once while passing by, i caught a glimpse of her eyes. Behind the dark eyeliner and mascara, there shone a pair of innocent eyes full of purity. Those eyes were immaculate, and i have not seen such eyes in many of the chaste women and girls, i have ever met. For a moment, i felt it was beauty!

I dont believe that beauty can only be seen, it can be perceived with all your senses. Anything which makes you feel on top of the world, or makes you forget the whole world is beauty in itself. Its unearthly, yet very much to be perceived in earth. Its perfect, yet you can find beauty in anything and everything full of flaws or devoid of. It may be ethereal, yet very earthly, very homely. There's beauty in everything and we all are beautiful. It's just that, some beauties can be perceived easily, while others remain imperceivable!

I have promised myself to do anything which makes me feel beautiful, while trying to perceive beauty in and around me.
