How to Stay Fit at Office

Yes it is possible to stay fit and healthy while you are at office! There are tons of articles that can be found in the internet, you must have read quite a number of them. But honestly how many of you have practised in your life? Not many! So if you fall in the other category, who have gone through all the preaching and still grappling on how to do that in real life, this article is for you. J

1.       Do not sit stiffly at one place for hours, stretch yourself. If you are sitting at one place and working for long hours, it weakens muscles like hamstrings, quads, glutes. Also it may tighten and lengthen the lower body muscles of your body too. All these leads to slouching, back pain, protruding belly, weak back.

To avoid this, get up from the chair, and stretch your lower body muscles often.

 

2.       Drink enough water. Keep sipping water now and then, throughout the day. Your body needs water.

This will also help you to keep dehydration and hunger pangs at bay.

 

3.       Always sit straight. Avoid any type of poor posture while you are working. Slouching strains around the lumbar and thoracic spines.

Your back must be straight and your knees must be at 90 degrees with the ground or floor. Place your elbows on support and adjust the computer screen at your eye level.

4.       Walk while you are talking over phone. Just get off from the office chair, and make the phone call your excuse for a brisk walk.

Not only for calls, even if you want to refill your bottle with water, walk towards the water cooler instead of asking the housekeeping staff to do so for you. Also instead of using instant messaging to communicate with your colleague go to his or her cubicle and tell the message face to face.

 

5.       Do not eat heavy food. There must be certain food which make you ill, so eliminate the entire gamut of food, even if they are tasty for your eyes and tongue!

Fried, salty, cheesy, sugary food and drinks generally leaves us bloated and gassy. Also food made up of ghee, or yogurt and cereal loaded lunches are lunch debacles.

 

6.       Maintain hygiene at office. Not only while you go for shopping or marketing, but cleanliness is also essential while you are at office. Eating while working is not hygienic. Also make sure that your hands are clean while you touch your face or eat something after going through heaps of files or touching the computer’s keyboard!

Keep hand sanitizer, tissues with yourself always. Also wipe off the dust from the keyboard, computer screen. Also the water bottle that you carry to your office, must be cleaned properly at least once after every 3 to 4 days.
