Choosing eyeglasses for a teenager is a cumbersome task. Because while choosing eyeglasses for a teen we should not only keep in mind the latest trends and styles, but also it should be able to survive despite the rough handling of the teens.

Eye examination : Go for a complete eye examination from an eye doctor who will also give you a prescription. According to the prescription, the eyeglasses might change. Like if you have a strong prescription, you wont be able to take a very thin framed eyeglasses.

Eyeglasses style : Next thing you should consider, is the style of eyeglasses you like. If you take any eyeglasses overlooking the style, and later you come to realize, the particular style does not suit you or it is outdated, then the eyeglasses will end up dwelling peacefully in your closet or bag without any usage. If you really need eyeglasses for proper vision, then you must wear the eyeglasses every day, instead of keeping it inside your bag. So choose the eyeglasses properly.

Eyeglasses frame : You can get a variety of frames made up from different materials like metal, plastic etc. Metal frames are generally thinner, while you can get a lot of colored plastic frames in different styles and shapes. For metal frames generally we can get gold, silver or bronze color frames.

The shape of the frame should complement the shape of the face, but at times the shape of frames is limited by the lens type you choose.

The color of the frame should also complement your complexion and hair color. Buy such eyeglasses frame which will go with most of the outfits you wear generally.

Lens of the eyeglasses : If you are into sports, you are better off buying a polycarbonate lens, as they are resistant to rough handling and wont break easily. However you can get a variety of shapes if you are going to buy glass lenses or plastic lenses.

In case you have a strong prescription, you can go for high-index lenses instead of thick lenses, but ask your doctor before you purchase. High index lenses are known as aspheric lenses, they are light and thinner.

Tints and coating of eyeglass lens : Buying prescription eyeglasses and a pair of sunglasses separately is not pocket friendly, so having photochromic lens for your eyeglass is the best solution which is affordable also. So whenever you go out, your photochromic lens will automatically get dark, while when you are indoor, you will have anormal eyeglasses. So you wont have to take one pair of eyeglasses and a sunglasses separately.

Tinted lenses are quite fashionable. But remember to choose a light tint for the eyeglasses so that you can use it both indoors and outdoors.

Before making a final purchase, make sure to browse through the variety of eyeglasses available in the optical stores. Only by trying different sets of eyeglasses on yourself, you can find out what looks best on you. You can also assistance from the salesperson in the shop.
