  • If the area to be shaved is already irritated and red from the last shaving session, avoid shaving it this time. If you try shaving irritated skin, the bump tops will be cut in the process, and the skin will become more irritated. Therefore avoid shaving on those particular areas, this will also help you to get freed of pain which would happen if you shaved those tender parts.
  • Soften the skin and the hair, before shaving, with the help of water (moisture) and heat. To lubricate the area, lather up the shaving foam on the parts to be shaved. This will also help you not getting the skin cut or getting yourself hurt while shaving.
  • To get a close shave, you just cant shave in the direction where the hair grows. You can shave in the opposite direction too, but make sure to make very less passes with the razor.

While shaving, if you notice any irritation on the skin, apply a skin soothing gel or lotion which contains aloe vera. This will calm the skin. Cortisone creams can also help to reduce such irritations. You may also put over the affected area, cool washcloth.
  • For ingrown hair, you can use any products which contain Benzoyl Peroxide. It is an antiseptic and prevents the follicles of the hair not to get inflammation.
  • If you squeeze the ingrown hair, to make it come out, you will only be causing damage to the hair follicle and nothing else. To the inflamed area, you can put cortisone cream for a week. In the meantime, the ingrown hair will be expelled. So don’t pick ingrown hair from such bumps!
  • Laser treatment is a great method of removing hair for the darker skinned people. Unlike the myth, that laser can cause pigmentation on dark skin tones, if the laser hair removal is done properly, it can be of a great help.
